Stripping upholstery

On something like an old arm chair you usually only need to strip the seat down, the arms and back often just need just add a little more padding eg another layer of lofted wadding . You do need however to remove all of the old fabric as leaving the old fabric on is a recipe for disaster - creases under your top fabric or even dye transfer and you are unlikely to get a good finished look.

If your chair has springs or webbing it is usually a good idea to replace them otherwise why put all that effort into the chairs to have them uncomfortable in year or two.

When you are stripping off the old padding remember to keep the coconut fibre and flock as you may be able to reuse them.
